Telford kicks off the show season

Late October / November is the traditional period for shows and this year is no exception with Dirt Bike Expo at Telford on 28th to 31st October kicking off the new show season.

Telford is not only first on the calendar, but will be the first place in the UK to see the majority of new models from all the major makes including the new range of Beta enduro machines fired by KTM engines (as well as their trials range). Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha, KTM and Kawasaki will have added presence with each manufacturer sending personnel including riders from their official UK MX race teams to be on hand to answer your questions about their respective ‘05 bikes or to sign the odd autograph. Along side the Japanese brands you will also find the full fleet of Gas Gas bikes and quads.

Having delivered similar highly successful exhibitions at Stoneleigh for the last three years, Show Director Jake Miller with his long serving team are working on the theory that if is not broke, then don’t fix it and will be taking many of the main ingredients that have been at the heart of their success to date to the prestigious new Telford venue, situated near Birmingham and AA signed just off the M54.

TMX with its sister publication DBR will once again be sponsoring the main stage area, with the usual daily line up of fashion shows (although this year’s routine is going to be hotter than ever), competitions and celebrity interviews hosted by Jack ‘eurosport’ Burnicle. Britain’s World MX star Stephen Sword headlines the VIP guests who will join Jack on stage and who will also be available to meet their many fans over the four days. Dirt Bike Expo will also be the place where TMX’s new magazine will be launched and where you can first get your hands on a copy of the glossy publication that takes a look at the 2005 season before it even gets underway.

The retail zone at Telford is bigger than ever and will be packed with the country’s leading dealers who will have a mix of the latest 05 gear from the biggest names in off road clothing and end of season bargains that make shows such a great hunting ground every year.

Despite the increased retail area, there will still be room in the 10,300 square metres of show space over the three permanent halls to fit in a massive indoor live action arena, which will serve up some of the most well known names in dirt bike sport. Multi World champion Paul Edmondson is favourite for the indoor enduro competition, whilst Steve ‘showtime’ Colley will be doing his best to win the trials battle whilst still putting on his usual flamboyant display. These two disciplines will frame a ‘hard pack’ minibike track that features a starting gate that will sit high above the arena floor. Having made his public debut last year on the CRF50, RTT Honda’s Carl Nunn is hoping to comeback to claim the title of ‘king of the wooden hill’ against quality opposition this time around.

Add to this the chance to win a KYMOC KXR 50 quad worth nearly £1400 by simply visiting Dirt Bike Expo, as well as under cover queuing plus better catering facilities in the Moto-X food stop and it seems that what ever your off road interest is there are several good reasons why you should be at Telford during the last four days of October. Tickets cost £5.00 for kids (5-15yrs-under 5yrs FOC)/ oap’s & £10.00 for adults, this includes a free TBM full colour show guide. Show opens 10.00am to 5.00pm Thursday to Sunday inclusive.

Dirt Bike Expo 2004 WILL NOT CLASH with Weston Beach Race

Following the recent publication of a story regarding the ‘possibility’ of the Weston Beach Race being conveniently moved to run on 30/31 October 2004,

We have contacted the North Somerset Council – Special Events Department - (01934) 888 888 - who have today confirmed that the event will actually take place on 23/24 October 2004 as originally planned. The development of the Tropicana complex will not effect the date of the event, and at worst the course’s position on the beach may have to be adjusted slightly.

You may be aware that Gareth Hockey of RHL Promotions (Weston Beach Race) is also a director of Promoto Ltd (Dirt Rider Expo).

Unfortunately we are aware certain parties continue to make various attempts to discredit our forthcoming event -

Dirt Bike Expo WILL take place at Telford 28-31 October 2004.

March

Dirt Bike Expo is born. As you are probably already aware, we are the company (G2F) that has sold, driven and organised every element of the off road show at Stoneleigh Park for the last three years, and with the support of both the exhibitors and public alike, they have been three highly successful.

It was therefore unexpected to discover that Promoto Ltd (the show owners) had put the show up for sale without informing us, although to date we believe this action has been unsuccessful.

As a result of these events, it is with regret we have decided to terminate our relationship with Promoto Ltd.

When we became a part of this project, we joined with the understanding that this was a show for the off road industry run by people who had the industry’s best interest at heart, this is a belief we still hold very strongly and one that we want to maintain.

Whilst it was never in our original plan, we have now decided to go it alone as we look to continue to build on the success we have achieved to date, by launching our own exhibition that will run in November later this year - full details to be released soon. With the guaranteed support of key companies within the industry, high profile off road celebrities and the specialist media we are looking to take Dirt Bike Expo onward and upward. We have also made a pledge to our exhibitors that this show will never be sold, especially when we believe a big part of the show belongs to them.

As we are committed to establishing a long term relation with our exhibitors, we are looking to be able to reduce or at least maintain the space costs, through operating with reduced overheads. We are confident that we have the resources (exactly the same as for the last three shows) and funding in place to deliver to the same high standards we have set in previous years

From the team that has previously organised the off road show at Stoneleigh for the last three years, we are delighted to be able to announce details of Dirt Bike Expo 2004, which will take place on 28th - 31st October at the International Exhibition Centre, Telford.

Boasting 10,300 square metres of floor space over 3 halls, Telford will allow Dirt Bike Expo 2004 to be the biggest off road show in the UK ever (some 25% bigger than any previous show), and with our proven track record we are confident it will be the best ever too.

You will be able to see (from the floor plan shown in the exhibitors section) that we are continuing the highly successful theme that we have established over the last three years by once again providing a dedicated display only hall for the bike / component / clothing manufacturers and a separate retail hall, plus an integrated live indoor arena (as opposed to linking to outbuildings).

Free from any existing tenancy agreement, and having clearly outgrown the previous venue we have chosen Telford (after having visited several other sites) as being the right place to take Dirt Bike Expo to the next level, and as having the correct facilities to cope with the growth we have experienced during our last three editions.

Eight million pounds worth of recent investment has given Telford the edge as the premier medium sized exhibition centre in the UK. Centrally based in the country, access to Telford could not be easier with motorway and rail links literally right to the door step. Add to this tarmac car parking within 50 metres for the main entrance and two large on site hotels (both offering reduced rates to exhibitors/visitors), and you will soon begin to understand why Telford makes so much sense.

The futuristic chrome and glass fronted main building facing the main road has a far more appropriate motorsport feel than anything we have previously enjoyed. A massive indoor foyer area will mean that you will no longer have to queue outside and an equally large dedicated catering area will prevent the service/supply problems visitors have experienced in the past.

Our earlier date this year means that we will be able to expose new model bikes, products and clothing prior to them being readily available, giving you the buying public a real added reason to attend. With all the key companies in the off road industry recognising just how important a role we have played in the success achieved to date and how well equipped we are to continue to do the same in the future, Dirt Bike Expo at Telford is set to be the best show ever
